The stage of audio production that occurs after principal recording, encompassing editing, dialogue cleaning, sound design, music editing, mixing, and mastering for film, television, podcast, and other media formats.

In Simple Terms

Everything that happens to audio after it's been recorded—editing, cleaning, mixing, and mastering. In film and video work, this includes adding sound effects, music, and replacing bad dialogue.

In Practice

Post-production on a feature film includes ADR recording, Foley, sound design, music editing, dialogue mixing, and the final Dolby Atmos theatrical mix.
