Convolution Reverb
Definition
A reverb processor that uses impulse responses (IRs) — recordings of real acoustic spaces or hardware reverb units — to mathematically recreate their acoustic signature. Produces highly realistic reverberation because it is based on measurements of actual spaces.

Common Confusion
Convolution reverb is CPU-intensive and not easily tweaked in real time. Algorithmic reverbs are more flexible and CPU-efficient but less photorealistic. Neither is inherently better — they serve different creative purposes.
